Jest got back a little bit ago from the Fryburg Fair, where we went specifically to catch Jamey Johnson! Why he ever thought it was a good idea to play an outdoor venue in the state of Maine in the middle of October, I have no idea. Don't believe he'll ever do it again, however: got outta the truck at about 7:30 and it was 45 degrees... Got back in 3 hours later and it was 37. Hell, that's cold, don't care who ya are. Great show, though, played most of his album plus some of his other originals, stuff of the upcoming album, and covered a little George Jones. Cold or not, was still a helluva show, and still musta been a few thousand people there. I'd post some pics, but some jack-ass brought his camera with dead batteries...

Lol nice. My gf and I went to see Brandi Carlile up in Maine...Freeport I think...at an outdoor venue last year, and I'm pretty sure it was in October 'cause it was over my fall break. Anyway, it's crazy cold at this time already! Oh, it rained on us too! LOL. I'm glad you had a grat time regardless of the cold!

In the 80's, I was stationed near Caribou, ME, for two years.

The government issued you a parka on Oct. 15th and collected it back on April 15th,
which is why I don't go anywhere near Maine in October.

Bah... It really weren't that bad. I suppose it helps that I've lived here for 32 seasons, so I'm kinda used to it. And the way that you go on about it, Charlie, one would think you were doin' time up there. You couldn't just appreciate the beauty of the land for what it was? Seasons make the world go 'round...

....By the way, Charlie, other than luxury, bliss, and denial, where in the hell DO you live now-a-days??

Not northern Maine, that's for damn sure.  The weather sucks.

And I was doing time, Jeff, ...of the military service variety.

Take it from me ... luxury, bliss, and denial in warm, sunny weather...ain't so bad.

Heh-heh... Yeah, not bad for the $10 fee to get into the fair... Was well worth the price of admission.

Jeff, considering the date and how far off the beaten path you were,
you were fortunate to see an act of that caliber.

I am jealous as hell, can't you tell.  I would love to see Jamey Johnson no matter rthe venue.  However I would prefer the indoor, properly HVACed,  waitress with acess to many spirits, available variety

Just saw him in Pittsburgh at an old church called Mr.  Smalls, hell of a show.  Feels a little funny when your drinkin beer inside a church, but none the less, Jamey tore it up!

Yup, no doubt, Charlie. And I didn't even know about it until 24 hours before hand. Like I said, I could not believe that he played there, but he gave it his all. It was a great show - anyone who has the chance, don't miss 'im.

Bah... The trip there is half the fun of a concert anywho, Kev - the venue itself is merely fodder for the story to come...
