One of the main reasons I like CDs and other formats of hard recordings -- you know the kind you can hold in your hand (and there is something there, not just a collection of sequentially arranged electrons) is that you can get to the names of the writers, recording players, background vocalists and other info about the recording -- all of which added to the appeal of the song that led me to buy it in the first place. This info is evaporating from ready availability on a song-by-song basis. So, I submit to all y'all the question about where do we now find this info. I did not know, until recently, that Jamey Johnson wrote "Give it Away" as recorded by King George. And that was an accidental discovery. That is what I am talking about. Anyone else have this problem -- or better still -- got the solution?

If you get the song electronically from a reputable source (i.e. OurTracks, Itunes, Rhapsody, etc) that info is embedded in the electronic file and will show in the proper areas if you have them visible on your player. (i.e. Itunes, Windows Media Player, Rhapsody, etc)

Good point, and thanks -- I had turned those options off so long ago -- during the height of my minimalist phase -- that i forgot what all you could get from there. I get most of the stuff via iTunes, for no particularly good reason except the pricing options work for me. I'm pretty limited. What got me going on this was Rosanne Cash's latest which is a pretty good survey of some good ol' traditional tunes. this time she is not reverb drenched like some of the earlier stuff and not as sappy sentimental as the "Cadillac" thing after her father died. I could have done without Jersey Bruce but there you have it. Worth a listen if you can.
