Anybody doing anything fun?

darcylandry -> RE: Halloween (10/25/2009 12:12:28 AM)

My wifes birthday is on Halloween and we're going to look at a new car for her. That could be fun...........for her anyway. As a mechanic when I look at cars all I see is repairs![&:]

What you thinking of getting? I'm in the market myself but dont know what to get. Sorry for thread jacking[:)]

crcrcrcr -> RE: Halloween (10/25/2009 7:55:15 AM)

At my age, the fun of Halloween is avoiding all those greedy little snot-nosed trick-or-treaters.

Regarding new autos, I can highly recommend the Toyota Prius.  I've owned an '07 model for several years and it's the best car I've ever owned.  It didn't hurt that I got a federal tax credit that knocked $3100 off the purchase price.  I imagine the Honda Civic Hybrid is pretty good too.  Before I bought the Prius, I drove a
Honda Civic Hatchback for 17 years and 350K miles.  It was a great car too.

Yeah, I am going to disguise myself as a liberal and go to work in my COIN/ Combat environment and see if I can make it back alive and spend all of the governments money.

My wifes dad was a car guy and recently passed away after a short battle with cancer. She was an only child and he left her a bit of an inheritance. She's also a bit of a car girl and she wants to buy herself a "sporty" car. We both feel that her dad would love that idea. She's absolutely in love with the Nissan 350-370z's. So were going to look at an '07 350z next Saturday. I'm a Toyota man so our everyday rides are an '04 Camry and I've got a '96 Previa which I use as a truck/band & gear hauler. Unfortunately Toyota doesn't make a sports car so I'll have to park a Nissan in my garage![:'(]

As a mechanic you can do your own repairs without the ridiculously high labor costs. I guess you make up for it though by the ridiculously high labor costs you put on your body. Yeah...ok it is a lose lose situation I suppose. [:@]

I never liked trick or treating. I stopped at the age of 7 or so lol. Something about dressing up and knocking on strangers' doors in the freezing cold at night never seemed worth it for some candy to me. Then in 10th grade my parents were at some party and they told me to hand out the candy, which I will never do again since the parents expect you to make a fuss about how cute their child is. So, I'm with you on that avoiding children and their parents thing. [sm=ss02.gif]

Halloween has to be the dumbest damn "holiday" that any jack-hole ever came up with unless you happen to be either 13or younger, or you like ressing up like a street-walker and just need an excuse. If there was a "Bah - Humbug" for Halloween... [sm=ss20.gif]

What ? honest ? informative ? thrifty ?

One of the reasons I served my country was to be able to drive
whatever I wanted without taking any guff from any jingoistic aholes.

Plenty of my 20 something year old friends enjoy Halloween...for the alcohol at the parties. [&:]

I think Halloween may have been made up by a drag queen who wanted a day to be able to walk around and not get any crap for it. Just a theory.

Heh-heh... You took the insult the wrong way, Chuck - nothing jingoistic in it, at all (I actually have more Toyotas than you can shake a stick at)... I was gettin' on ya about the "Prius" aspect of it.... Is it also baby-blue? And do you carry a chi-hua-hua (anyone get THAT reference??) around in a "European hand-bag?" [8D]

...You shoulda known me better than that, Charles... [:)]

crcrcrcr -> RE: Halloween (11/2/2009 6:16:23 AM)

My Prius has a glossy black finish called "onyx pearl".

Otherwise, if you are angling for a date, you're barking up the wrong tree, hoss.  [sm=ss21.gif]

Did you think I didn't know you were referencing Jeff Dunham's act ?

Like Bono says, "there's nothing wrong with my Edge".  [8D]

microsysinc -> RE: Halloween (11/2/2009 10:06:31 PM)

me and the da band had a 'barn party'. I went buck-naked and wildly swinging a #2 iron skillet...guess I went as "Peter Pan"...(now how's that for a scary mental image) [8D]

crcrcrcr -> RE: Halloween (11/2/2009 11:22:25 PM)

That sounds almost as scary as the year I wore only a pair of roller skates
and went as a pull-toy.  [:(]

Buckaru2 -> RE: Halloween (11/6/2009 3:43:42 PM)

Charlie, I am now deeply troubled by the image you conjured with the roller skates. As for the Prius and similar smallish things -- How the hell are you gonna tow the boat?

crcrcrcr -> RE: Halloween (11/6/2009 4:47:31 PM)

I keep the yacht berthed at the marina.  [8D]
