OK, two days have passed, I've settled down a bit and ready to get a little more serious about this bio stuff. It would appear that I am the oldest string bender reading this thread, will turn 55 in mid-august. I returned to playing git-tar in '02 after not playing for 32 years. Been a struggle, but y'all have helped me SOOOO much I can never express adequately. Also, some of these threads are a real hoot. Live in Memphis, work in academic computing, do most of my playing solo in the evenings as long as my hands hold up. One word about aging -- Don't --  Married to #2 for 23 years, two kids, two step kids, one real big dog named Lucky and if you young ladies were to drop by he would demonstrate why I call HIM Lucky. P.S. he likes short skirts A LOT. I grew up western Kansas in the 60's so traditional it was and still is. I like some of the alt country acts CCR, LLB, etc. but mainly Waylon, Dwight, Buck (you should have guessed), Merle, Hank, (and a little Bocephus) ,George (both of 'em), but let's not overlook a snip of LS and ABB every now and then. Can't go wrong with good material. Finding like-minded folks in Memphis, is not easy. I seek out the honky tonk saloons wherever I go and I am not offended by good covers of great music. My guitars are mostly Gibsons and Fenders and my amps are always Fender. So that is the brief bio -- inquiries regarding the short member will be considered individually. My wife thought is was funny -- but she always laughs at me.

I live in the beautiful sunshine state with my husband and son. We enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and bicycling. My husband gave me a guitar for Christmas and I have been teaching myself. This site has helped me along the way. I've always loved music--I grew up listening to U2, The Police, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Souxsie, The Cure, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Social Distortion, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order.....I could go on and on. Over the years I have grown to appreciate Gospel, Blues, Bluegrass, Country, Southern Rock and Rap. Music seems to center me. I played piano for years and would eventually like to take up the piano again. I enjoy singing and writing poetry as well.  My son seems to be a natural muscian and I plan on encouraging his talents. At this point of my,life  most of my focus is on my son. I absolutely love being a mom. Oh, and being a wife isn't that bad either

Hi...I'm Amy. I don't know if you remember me...i used to post here..but things have gotten busy lately, so i haven't been on as much. Plus, i have a stupid computer that takes forever to load these pages so i usually give up! hehe. anyway, I play guitar, but i sing mostly. I'm learning guitar....slowly. Hmm...what else. I love country music, and basically anything except rap. i hate rap. i could never listen to rap!  see, here's my theory: "Music is like candy...you have to get rid of the RAPPERS!" anyway, umm....what else. I'm in highschool...i love singing karaoke....hmmm...that's all i can think of fer now. anywho, i hope to be back soon and post more!

My name is Wade I am 32 and I am a guitaraholic.  I am a US Marine with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Lejeune, NC.  I started playing while stationed in London a few years ago.  As a kid we would go to my g-father's house and meet the rest of the family, where grandma (fiddle), my uncle (banjo) and my g-father (guitar, mandolin) would play bluegrass music.  My uncle Doug and Grandfather played all over Illinois.

When my G-father died he left a couple tapes behind of just him and a recorder talking and playing, the best and funniest stuff I have ever heard!!  It sounded like a lot of fun, so I bought a guitar and started teaching myself.  Although relying a lot on others for help coming up (thanks to Larry and Mac) I am beginning to pass it back to others just getting started.  I just recently sold one of my five guitars to a friend I am getting ready to deploy with so i could buy a banjo this week and start teaching myself that.

Whew, I am married and have an eleven year old daughter.    At my house, my buddy who plays banjo comes over every Saturday to play (the best we know how), now if we could only find a fiddle player :-)

P. S.  If you are still reading this, after returning from Iraq in May, my Uncle Doug gave me my grandfather's 1972 Martin D-18 which I love and play often.

You can hear grandpa play the Talking Blues here  Altogether he did 29 songs on his two home made albums.....

Hmmmmm......... Wonder if'n anyone'll notice I's lurkin round hea...

Hi!  My name is Dan Trate and I used to live here!  (If you don't believe me, ask Larry, Wayne, Romy, 5040, Em, hell, any of the lifer's).  I'm from Central PA, and I used to play guitar quite a bit.  Not that it got me anywhere, mind ya.  Well, shouldn't say that.  It got me here, which if you hang around a bit you'll find out is a good thing.

Never was any good at playing guitar, I just came here to argue with Larry, answer the odd theory question when Dougie wan't around, and do a little thread-jackin with Romy and some of the other, um, (censored) that hang out here (not quite as perverted an act as it might sound, usually).

As poorly as I play guitar, it did get me a few open mic night gigs and a short lived stint with another guitarist (he played, I sang, too bad we couldn't agree).  Mostly newer southern rock and current and clasic rock/alternative.  Sorry Larry, but I still cant bear to listen to the old country.  Makes me want to take up knittin and watchin tv like my grandma usta when I was a kid....

Well, now ya knows me.  Don't know how much I'll be around in the future, runnin yer own biznit is a lot of work.  Those of you who need me know how ta reach me.

Laters
Dan

My name is Chris. AKA El' Crots of the clan McCrots.  I play guitar sometimes and sing a little sometimes.  Im 31 and havent listened to a music radio station in a year.  Its that bad IMO.  I listen to bluegrass and old country and rock songs that actually have something called a "lead guitarist" (for you younger folks) in them.  I prefer listening to friends sing and play over pretty much any artist out there.  Lets see........I cant spell worth a sh*t, and my grammar sucks.  Im a hick, redneck, whatever you wanna call me.  I shoot things for fun, drink like a fish, fish like a drunk and dont do illegal drugs(surprisingly enough).  My lifes ambition is to write my name on ceiling of Tootsies along with my friends on this site.
