This one is a darker green than the seasick green TS9. It uses the JRC45558 op chip which is the one in the original Ts 808. Has 4 knobs instead of the usual 3 knob layout. Drive, tone , level, and mode.
Mode: Ts9, +, hot , turbo
Ts9 mode - sounds the same as the original tubescreamer. Still has the same mid-range hump.
+(plus) mode - adds a little bass and cuts a little overdrive. Basically just removes the midrange hump.
hot mode - adds a little more bass and a small amount of volume ---really starts to thicken the sound and add small amounts of compression.
turbo mode adds a little more volume and punch. Dynamics and note clarity really improve and compression is starting to sustain a little more.
I'm running mine in the turbo mode with drive @10:00 and tone maxed.
Tone knob on this one actually works very well. This has basically become my CLEAN channel. The diff modes on this suprised me because when you go higher on the mode settings the amount of drive decreases and the amount of volume and punch increases.
